This Drawing was inspired by my dear darling friend who got surgery last year to treat her Congenital Neuroproliferative Vulvar Vestibulodynia and Vaginismus.

I made this drawing for her in my journal, thinking about how much she had gone through to get to this point in her healing journey, emotionally and physically, and how conflicting it must feel to know that this surgery won’t necessarily be the end of that journey. This drawing is meant to represent our relationship to current and past versions of ourselves and our pain and our triumphs. The ever-lingering grief of past lives getting to coexist with feeling free and connected to our present and our futures. For me this illustration represents the beautiful and painful reality of the human experience where our past, future, and present are always dancing with one another.
